I am constantly asked on my social media about my absolute favourite items I have used with Carter and Mackenzie. My twins are four months old and I purposefully didn’t purchase too many items that I didn’t know if I would need of not. What are the absolute twin essentials? Would I require the best of the best or would a simple version work better? What are the extra’s I loved to have? SO in order to help with everyone who has asked (or even thought about asking), here are my top essentials for having twins.
Baby Bjorn Bouncers
These bouncers have been my saviour! Having twins has been tough in the sense that you can only hold and nurse one at a time. If one is crying and the other is feeding, I can bounce with my foot on and feed at the same time, and swap once we are finished. The babies love it as they feel happy to be moving while being talked to or watching you entertain them. I love that these bouncers aren’t required to be plugged in too. They are cause and effect, meaning the babies need to move to create the movement – and it works! These bouncers are energy efficient and pack away to being flat and horizontal. They come in a variety of colours and mesh and can be reversed to be used as a chair once babies grow bigger.
You can find the Baby Bjorn Bouncer here.
Comfier Baby Care Playmat
If there is one thing I have learnt about babies, it is how much they love colour! My two go crazy for colour and this playmat is the perfect fit for them. Being reversible gives the mat longevity with the alphabet ready for kids to play and learn. This one is made from a soft foam with clear coating making cleaning up after play time a breeze.
You can find the Comfier Baby Care Playmat here.
Poori Airflow Reversa Mesh Mattress
Oh this is a very important one! I wanted something that was very easy to clean, supportive for bubs and was of quality (after all, they will be sleeping the majority of their younger years!). The Boori Airflow Reversa Mesh Mattress was an absolute must for numerous reasons, but the main being (and Fabian was quite excited about this one!); if there were any accidents, it had the ability to be taken outside and literally be hosed down..! Yep, thats right – SO easy! The beauty being that it was so light and made of low allergenic materials and could easily breathe and create air flow whilst bubs is sleeping. It is made of a mesh – so no springs or porous materials which means no nasties for the life of the mattress, and no bacteria either. How could we resist?
You can find the mattress here.
Love To Dream Swaddles
We were given swaddles at the baby shower from Love To Dream – I have heard nothing but the BEST things about them! We have quite the collection going already. I love that they’re grey and we don’t have to worry too much about what is blue or pink for the moment. They come in lots of sizes and are great for the little ninja babies who wrestle out of their wraps. Its also the only swaddle available that allows bubs to sleep with their arms up, hence the SwaddleUP name. They also have a twin zipper so you can change nappies without going over babies head (handy!). The materials are nice and soft, so no scratching of the face either. My two love them!
You can find your Love To Dream swaddles here.
Milkbar Lifestyle Twin Nursing Pillow
This one is a beauty – It is handy for both singles and multiples and can be used for a long time to come. The Milkbar Lifestyle Twin Nursing Pillow is really handy for tandem breastfeeding twins, by placing them both in the football hold position and feeding at the same time. If bottle feeding, you can place baby on the middle of the pillow and bottle feed too. If you are also using a twin-z pillow, this is perfect to be used underneath to prop up the size. I used both at the same time and it was a perfect combination.
You can find the Milkbar Lifestyle Twin Nursing Pillow here.
Big Softies Safe & Soft Cloth Nappies
I knew I was never going to have enough time to be able to have disposable nappies, however they still come in great use for so many other things! Baby spit-up, spills and mistakes can all be cleaned up with a few of these Big Softies Safe & Soft Cloth Nappies. They are true to their word and are really soft and gentle on the skin, and super absorbent. I’ve stored some in the car, the nursery, the baby bag and the nursery all ready to go. These cloth nappies are great for the bigger spills and can also be used as a blanket (or nappy!) when ever required too. So versatile!

Chicco Steri-Natural 3-in-1 Steriliser
You cannot survive with twins without a mega steriliser.. trust me! Cluster feeding or feeding every two or three hours? Times two little humans? You won’t regret this purchase. The Chicco 3-in-1 Modular Steriliser will hold up to six large and 12 small bottles, which makes the whole bottle process so much easier. It has three types of loads: Full, Compact or Microwave. I have never used anything smaller than the full with my twins. Wash your bottles in boiling water with washing detergent, rinse and place them in the steriliser. Click ‘go’ and in 12 minutes, you have your bottles ready to go. If you leave the lid on, these bottles and teats will stay sterilised for up to 24 hours. Plus, pop the top compartment in the nappy bag when you go away and you have a quick microwaveable compartment for on-the-go trips.
You can find the Chico Steri-Natural 3in1 Steriliser here.
I am a big fan of Boon products and the lawn is no exception! Boon have taken everything we loved about Grass and made it bigger and better – perfect for twins! After sterilising, the lawn has plenty of room for bottles, teats and lids. This Lawn has plenty of room and allows all your sterilised goods to dry without having their sterilisation disturbed. All the excess water falls to the bottom making clean up a breeze.
You can find the Boon Lawn Drying Rack here.
Oricom 2.4 Inch Video Monitor SC710
One of my favourite items to have is our baby monitor. I’ve taken it away with us when we go on holidays and use it multiple times a day with the babies being at the opposite side of the house. Being able to ensure they are ok and sleeping, or knowing when they have genuine cries when they are upset makes it so much easier with a monitor. They don’t have to be so worked up to hear me, and I can make informed decisions as to wether they will self settle or be up all night. I decided the Oricom 2.4 Inch Video Monitor was my favourite, as there was multi-camera function which, when the babies go in to seperate cots, will come in handy. You can just filter through the screen with the other cameras to see the next screen. SO handy!
You can find the Oricom 2.4 Inch Video Monitor SC710 here.
A room thermometer is an absolute must. Ours is on 24/7 and I check it every time I put my little ones down for a snooze. The Gro Egg is handy for two reasons: the perfect night light also dictates the happiness of ideal temperature, as well as having a happy or sad face next to the precise temperature on the front of the egg. At a quick glance, you can see if you require more or less blankets for sleeping or be able to adjust the room air conditioning temperature if it is required. Give yourself the best chance of having a break by giving your baby the best conditions to sleep.
You can find the Gro Egg here.
Chicco Silicone Physio Air Dummies
Even if you don’t plan on using dummies, I thought it would be a good idea to always have back up. Just in case someone needed one for my sanity. After all, having two babies was going to be a challenge and I wanted to make my life as easy as possible incase it all went south (oh dear!). The Chicco Silicone Physio Air Dummies were the first dummies I found and purchased, and they have been an absolute winner for both of my babies. They come in both pink and blue sets. Mackenzie had self-weaned from dummies by three months of age, but Carter is very happy to have his. He only needs it to soothe himself to sleep, an then he drops it out by himself. For those days he is a little grumpy or doesn’t settle as easy, a dummy is perfect to get him through.
I also like the dummies that are glow-in-the-dark. They come in handy in the middle of the night!

So there you have my top 11 baby and twin essentials list. What did you have on your list that I don’t already have? There are so many great products on the market – feel free to share your thoughts on the comments below.
We purchased all of our items from Baby and Toddler Town in Robina, and saved with their ‘Spend and Save’ deals. Their service was absolutely exceptional and helped this completely clueless to-be mum to be somewhat of an expert. They were so professional, honest and helpful, I cannot recommend highly enough! Head online or in store to Robina, QLD or Marsden Park, NSW and see for yourself.
