It is always good to be able to give back to the community and to others, when you have the opportunity.
After working as a Fire Fighter and seeing some of the horrific injuries that can result from fires, burns and fire safety, it was important for Becky to be able to reach out and help others in relation to these causes.
The KIDS foundation was established in 1993 by former pre and primary school teacher, Susie O’Neill.
KIDS is an acronym for Kids In Dangerous Situations and were built to try to redress the startling childhood injury statistics in Australia. Every day, more than 5,000 children are injured unintentionally and of those, more than 100 require hospital attention. More children die from injury than from disease, and a lot of these cases are directly associated with burns and fire.
The KIDS Foundation is a not-for-profit, health promotion charity. KIDS is dedicated to reducing the incidence of childhood injury and death by promoting injury prevention education. Active nationally through pre-schools, primary and secondary schools, we deliver highly commended, interactive education programs and provide resources to 7,500 schools.
Named as an Ambassador for the KIDS Foundation in 2014, Becky helps organize events, auctions and helps promote awareness. If you would like to help with the KIDS Foundation by donating, you can do so here, or visit the KIDS Foundation website.
